Some students in Rivers state say working in the civil service is not part of their plans after education.
Speaking with our correspondent, some students of Uniport said the salaries of the current civil servants cannot meet their needs. Their comments are in reaction to the announcement that the state government is set to employ 10,000 additional youths into the civil service.
Meanwhile, some Rivers State civil servants have continued to cry out over the condition of the staircases and lifts in the state Secretariat. Our correspondent who visited some blocks within the secretariat complex reports that most people now rely on torchlights to climb stairs due to constant power outages. Some civil servants who spoke said the lifts have not been working for one year.
